Pampering Rose Treats for This Mother's Day II

No roses? No problem.

 

Mother’s Day tomorrow, and if you haven’t yet lined up your full day of royal treatment for the queen of the household, perhaps you could start with these delicate treats and close off with two fuss-free recipes. These icy treats require minimal effort but score a 10/10 in taste and looks. Present them in fancy plates and Mum will think you had them planned out long ago (you can thank us later).  

 

Made using the Finnish Plant Rose Petal Confiture available exclusively on the Gryphon Tea Pantry, this is a delightful jam produced from the flowers of Rosa Rogusa. Held together by organic sugar and lemon, this sweet pink treat, unlike plenty of commercial jams, contains zero preservatives. I promise, it tastes as good as it looks.

1. Lychee Rose Granita

 

Granita is a type of Italian frozen ice dessert made from syrup and various flavourings, with an almost similar texture to that of a sorbet. Super simple to make, and perfect in Singapore’s climate!

 

Ingredients:

(makes 4 small servings)

 

 

Directions:

  1. Drain the lychees and keep the syrup.
  2. Add the lemon juice, Finnish Rose Petal Confiture and rose essence to the lychee syrup.
  3. Blend the lychees in a food processor till smooth.
  4. Strain the lychee puree.
  5. Add the puree to the syrup and mix well.
  6. Pour mixture into a pan and place it in the freezer.
  7. Check on the mixture every 30 minutes and scrape away any ice crystals that are formed.
  8. Once mixture is thoroughly frozen, fluff it up using a fork and let it sit in the freezer for another half an hour before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh frozen strawberries before serving.

2. Strawberry and Rose Frozen Yoghurt

 

Ingredients:

 

(serves 4)

 

  • 500g Greek Yogurt
  • 250g Fresh Strawberries, quartered
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 4 Tbsp of Honey mixed in 120ml of water
  • 4 Tbsp Finnish Rose Petal Confiture
  • 2 Tsp Rose Essence

 

Directions:

 

  1. Add sugar to the fresh strawberries and set aside for 30 minutes. Then puree the strawberries using a food processor. Sieve the puree to remove the seeds.
  2. In a food processor, combine the strawberry puree, greek yoghurt, honey, rose jam and rose essence.
  3. Pour the mixture into a freezer-proof tin and let it sit till it is thoroughly frozen. Check on your mixture every 30 minutes or so to ensure that no large clumps are formed.
  4. Enjoy!

 

Enjoy a warm oatmeal scone or hot toasty bagel for breakfast, then indulge in a fluffy chocolate sponge for tea time. Want an after dinner drink?
