Wardrobe Essentials To Have This 2019

Wardrobe Essentials To Have This 2019

Fashion is cyclical and trends fall out of season almost as quickly as they became trendy. Despite this, there are certain timeless trends that remain stylish throughout the seasons. Keep your wardrobe relevant and classy this 2019 with these few tips.

Keep things neutral

It’s well known that blacks and whites are considered wardrobe staples, but we think saving some space for neutral coloured clothing is a good thing too. Think sandy/oatmeal/beige tones. If you are living in a cool temperate climate, getting a simple beige coloured coat to wear over your outfit will do the trick. But if you are living in a warm tropical climate where things can get pretty hot and sticky, ditch the coat and go with something lighter. Work some neutral tones into your outfit with beige work pants or a breezy beige silk top. You could even work in different shades of beige by wearing different textures and layering them together.

A Luxe Suit

Gone are the days when suits for women were limited to ugly greys with ginormous shoulder pads in a loose cut. Suits have been given an overhaul and we must admit that they should now be in everyone’s closet. Wear it with bold graphic tees, plain tees, shirts, blouses, you name it. You can even break the suit into 2 different outfits – blazer with jeans, or pants with a simple top. Suits should be the new basic. Change things up with suits in bold colours, or get one with a unique pattern. The perfect suit is versatile and takes you from day to night easily.

A Pullover Sweater

For days when it gets cold, or days when you don’t feel like dressing up but still want to look cool. The pullover sweater has become a fashion staple that everyone didn’t know they needed. In fact, it was one half of the bonafide fashion staple in late 2018, paired together with bicycle shorts. The pullover sweater is not only comfy, but also adaptable in different styles – with jeans, shorts, long skirts, over a dress, almost any combination you can think of. This is one thing we definitely can’t live without.

A White Tee

It’s a basic staple, but finding the perfect white tee is no mean feat. We’ve tried ones from name-brands like Zara and Topshop, and ones from smaller boutique brands like Grana and Kotn, and have concluded that the best white tees really come from brands that specialise in them. Our current favourite – Grana’s crew neck white tee. Kotn’s comfy white tees, come in a close second.

A Basic Bodysuit

It is understated, simple and layers with anything you put over it. A bodysuit is the answer to constantly readjusting half tucked tops and results in a smooth chic overall look. It also helps that it suits any body shape, are mostly made of stretchy and comfortable materials and can be worn with any bottom. Slip on a blazer, kimono or even another loose top and it still works as a great outfit!

A Pencil Skirt

The go-to style essential for the working woman. The pencil skirt has had eternal appeal since it was first launched because of its timeless style and sophistication. It also helps that it makes any wearer look demure almost instantly. You can pair it with a plain tee, work shirt, long sleeve top, or layered under a chunky sweater.

A Simple Dress

Every other fashion blog out there will tell you that a little black dress is the must-have dress for every wardrobe. But we think it doesn’t have to be black. Go with a neutral tone if you want to switch things up a little, or even with white. This dress is simple enough to wear on its own, yet able to be layered, dressed up or dressed down.

As you can tell, the main gist of our style tips is: versatility and layering. Neutrals, basics and several statement pieces can be worn in various iterations without looking over-worn and boring. Much like how Monogram Teas are versatile and can be layered in various pairs according to your changing moods for tea, your wardrobe essentials can be paired and layered on each other to create new looks and styles, all while remaining in trend every season.
